Session template (90 minutes)
| Minutes | Part | What facilitators do |
|---|---|---|
| 0–10 | Retrieval warm-up | Five questions on the last session, answered from memory. Model the routine you're teaching |
| 10–40 | Teach | One principle: the finding, the evidence grade, a short classroom example (a video if you have one) |
| 40–70 | Practice on a real lesson | Participants bring next week's lesson and apply the principle to it; facilitator checks every table |
| 70–85 | Rehearse | Pairs rehearse the routine twice, with feedback |
| 85–90 | Commit and write | One change for next week, written down, collected |
The rule: every session uses the practices it teaches. A session on retrieval opens with retrieval; a session on checking every student checks every participant.
Classroom visit tool (for state teams)
State visits are for learning what's happening, not for evaluating teachers. Visit in pairs, ten classrooms per school.
